Meet Tom

Before founding The Outdoor Standard, Tom was taught and worked alongside some of Adelaide's best gardeners with many years at Forest Lodge, one of Adelaide’s most exclusive heritage-listed estate gardens.

He has also worked within design-led landscape environments and in structured maintenance programming roles, contributing to the planning and coordination of ongoing landscape care. This experience reinforced the importance of systems, consistency, and disciplined execution in maintaining established outdoor spaces.

Alongside hands-on stewardship, Tom has formal qualifications with a Certificate III in Horticulture and Certificate III in Landscape Construction. This blend of formal training and practical experience shaped how The Outdoor Standard operates today — through defined programs, technical understanding, and a long-term approach to plant health and landscape integrity.
Our Approach
The Outdoor Standard manage gardens and landscapes through structured programs, not reactive work.

Scope is defined upfront, visits are scheduled, and standards remain consistent regardless of season or frequency. Essential maintenance is never treated as optional, and work is completed thoroughly — not rushed.

We believe in a safe trusted work environment with all employees having a current national police and work with children clearance.
